Description of Tramadol 200mg

Tramadol 200mg (marketed as Ultram), is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. When taken as an immediate-release oral formulation, the onset of pain relief usually occurs within about an hour. It has two different mechanisms. Firstly, it binds to the μ-opioid receptor. Secondly, it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine.

A change in dosage may be recommended in those with kidney or liver problems. Its use is not recommended in women who are breast feeding. It is often combined with paracetamol as this is known to improve the efficacy of tramadol  in relieving pain.

Tramadol 200mg synthesis and mechanism of action:

Tramadol  works by modifying the processing of pain signals traveling between the nerves and the brain. First, like heroin, codeine, and all other opiate analgesics, tramadol binds to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord.
